FP Background Building Techniques

Intermediate techniques for background playing

Root-and-3rd technique

This technique might make you think, but it sounds great. Play the root of the chord in the left hand and the third of the chord (not the 3rd scale note, the third of the chord) in the right hand. You can also play the third in right hand octaves.

Right hand change late

This technique creates a temporary harmonic suspension as well as a rhythmic feel.

The summary video for all techniques can be found at the conclusion of the Advanced Techniques module.
