FP Background Advanced Techniques

Advanced techniques

Ostinato

When the dynamic rises, this repeated rhythmic pattern is a go-to technique. There’s a lot going on, so there’s a tutorial, demonstration, and then we’ll break it down further.

Melodic

The goal of the Fluent Piano system is to help you develop musical ideas and express them with ease. This technique relies on the ability to hear melodic ideas and know what scale notes to play. We’ll use the left hand to outline the chords’ root and fifth, freeing the right hand to play melodic ideas.

Combining and switching techniques

As the dynamics of a worship service change, it’s important to adapt your playing style. In this session, we will talk about how to make these changes and learn what creates dynamics in your playing.

Fading out

Everything to this point has been about transitioning from speaking to music. But when you come to the end of a worship set, you often need to lift from a contemplative mood to something lighter. We’ll discuss how to do that in this session.
